SSC Ultimate Aero
SSC Ultimate Aero, manufactured by the American supercar maker Shelby SuperCars, was considered to be the fastest production car in the world from March 2007 to July 2010.
Equipped with a powerful SSC designed Billet Aluminum V8 Block engine of 6.35 litres and driven by the rear wheels, SSC Ultimate Aero demonstrates a wonderful performance. The supercar can reach the top speed of 257 mph. Acceleration to 60 mph is only in 2.78 seconds. It is capable of producing the horsepower of 1287 bhp and the torque of 1112 ft-lbs. The Ultimate Aero held the record of the fastest production car for three years till it was overtaken by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with its top speed of 267 mph.
The first in the world one-piece carbon fiber wheels (by Carbon Revolution) of SSC Ultimate Aero, which are lighter than standard aluminium wheels, make for a better performance of the suspension, better acceleration and braking and also contributes to safe driving. These wheels of carbon unveiled by Shelby SuperCars in December 2009, is a new direction in wheel technology of future sports cars.
The Ultimate Aero is equipped with AeroBrake system which can be deployed under different braking circumstances, e.g. if a sharp braking is unnecessary or when driving in a city, the system can be switched off with the bottom.
